Flavored coffee accounts for an estimated 20 percent to 30 percent of total coffee sales, according to Technomic Inc., a Chicago-based foodservice consultant and research firm. Compared to 2006, sales have grown at a rate of 8 percent to 10 percent per year, and sales are expected to continue to rise 6 to 8 percent a year over the next three to five years. “Primarily driven by increases at large quick-service chains rather than independents and specialty coffee chains,” adds Tom Miner, principal at Technomic.
