Nutritional postings
May 27, 2008

Practically everyone knows New York City now requires restaurants companies with 15 or more units to post calorie counts on their menus. It's not much of a solution to the city's -- or, indeed, the county's -- obesity problems but it's a start, NYC health officials argue.
Chains, particularly fast-feeders, cry foul, pointing out they already post nutritional information on their web sites and in their restaurants.
I took a picture yesterday of a nutritional poster at a Wendy's in Beaver, Pa. It's not a good photo, admittedly, but it gets the point across that it's tough to absorb such a large amount of numerical information, especially if  people are lining up ahead of you.

Calorie counts, etc.

Still, I think many customers simply don't care about the caloric content. Many likely know how to eat wisely, figuring the low-calorie oatmeal and black coffee at breakfast allows for a Mandarin Orange salad with dressing and a baked potato at lunch. Or a Wendy's triple with everything.
Does anyone know of a restaurant that does, in fact, present nutritional information in a decidedly customer-friendly way? If so, leave a comment.
