A Bit of Americana

July 1, 2009
The nice folks at Ritter's Frozen Custard sent their commercial over for a look-see. It's about as American as mom and apple pie, and well-timed for Independence Day.

What's more interesting, and maybe even more down-homey, is Ritter's video that outlines the company's mission and "back to basics" strategy. "There's a story behind the success," the slightly-raspy elderly-gentleman narrator tells us.

Chief Development Officer Gary Occhiogrosso explains that the video was made to show new and prospective franchisees. "Franchise candidates who have viewed it have told me it helps them get a better 'sense' of the corporate culture and mission at Ritter's," he writes. "In my opinion, the more education a prospect acquires on the Ritter's brand, the approach to the work involved in owning a Ritter’s and the expectation of the of the guest, the simpler it becomes to qualify a candidate for our system."

At the risk of being patronizing, I think the video is sweet, from the quaint founders to the clean-cut crew. What do you think? Comment in the box below.

As always, if you have a restaurant chain commercial that you'd like to see discussed in this space, send it to chainleader@reedbusiness.com.
