About the Roosevelts, Baby

July 16, 2009
I wasn't going to post the 2-minute Taco Bell commercial "It's all about the Roosevelts." Just assuming everyone had already seen it, decided it was cute but kind of hackneyed, and moved on.

But then I saw the comments on YouTube, and they're still talking about it on Twitter, and those crazy kids love it. Really.

I saw very little real brand-building and a bunch of clean-cut white kids trying desperately to be "ghetto." They saw "epic" and "hilarious" and "amazing." "Roosevelts" as slang for "dimes"? It just makes me feel old.

What do you think? Here's the vid in all its "full length" glory. Comment in the box below.

As always, if you have a restaurant chain commercial you'd like to see posted in this space, send a note to chainleader@reedbusiness.com. We'll try to oblige.

The comments on that video need approval to be displayed = you'll not see bad comments.

Dear readers, "tite" means "very cool," according to urbandictionary.com.

I LOVE this and have ever since I saw it during the MLB All-Star Game!!! Greatest commercial ever! I hope there is more to come! Taco Bell and Dos Equis are doing things right.
