PRESS RELEASE: DUBLIN, Ohio, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning this month, Wendy's takes flavor-fanatics to the Far East with a new chicken temptation - Sweet & Spicy Boneless Wings. Light and crispy-breaded chunks of premium, 100% whole chicken breast are hand-tossed in a spicy blend of Asian chilies, real pepper flakes and a hint of garlic.

Building on Wendy's heritage of "fresh" innovation, the chain becomes the first major quick-service hamburger brand to introduce premium boneless wings, which can be served with Asian, Bold Buffalo or Honey Barbeque sauce.

"Our new boneless wings are as far as it gets from fast food. Sweet & Spicy Asian wings are something you'd find at an upscale restaurant, and now you can get them at Wendy's," says Ken Calwell, Wendy's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. "We're excited to offer customers a new way to enjoy Wendy's chicken. We believe the quality of our chicken and our proprietary signature sauces are another indicator of how Wendy's is waaaay better."

Like Wendy's premium chicken sandwiches, the new boneless wings use 100% chicken breast meat.

An order of premium Boneless Wings contains seven to nine pieces depending on weight, starting at the suggested price of $3.99. National advertising begins on June 22.

The launch of Wendy's premium boneless wings continues the brand's history of fresh-tasting firsts and quick-service restaurant innovations. For example:

* Wendy's introduced the first modern-day "Pick-Up" window with a separate grill, sandwich and beverage station (1970)

* Wendy's became the first national chain to offer a salad bar (1979) and baked potatoes (1983)

* Wendy's created the industry's first "Super Value Menu" featuring quality 99¢ entree items (1989)

* Wendy's was first in the industry to offer ComboChoices - allowing customers to substitute a small chili, baked potato or one of two side salads, instead of fries, in the combo meals at no extra charge (2004).

Wendy's Boneless Wings

Sweet & Spicy Asian, Bold Buffalo and Honey Barbeque

Wendy's is introducing a new line of premium boneless wings, which are hand-tossed and served with one of three signature sauces: Sweet & Spicy Asian, Bold Buffalo and Honey Barbeque. This launch makes Wendy's the first major quick-service hamburger restaurant to introduce a premium boneless wings product.

Wendy's Boneless Wings are made of premium, all-white-meat chicken breast and have a light, crispy breading. They are served in a covered platter and are available at a suggested price of $3.99 a la carte, or $5.69 in a combo.

Sweet & Spicy Asian sauce has a distinctive flavor unlike anything Wendy's has offered before and is a spicy blend of Asian chilies, real pepper flakes and a hint of garlic.

Honey Barbeque sauce features amber honey for a sweet and smoky flavor.

Bold Buffalo is like a traditional buffalo sauce, but Wendy's gives it a kick with aged cayenne pepper.

Wendy's Boneless Wings are the latest addition to the Chicken Temptations product line, which includes the Spicy Chicken, Ultimate Chicken Grill and Homestyle Chicken Sandwiches and Chicken Go Wraps (available in Spicy, Grilled or Homestyle).
