Chick-fil-A Launches a Surprising New Sandwich Star (Press Release)

New Chick-fil-A(r) Chicken Salad Sandwich... 'it's another Chick-fil-A original.'

-- Chain Leader, 6/2/2008 8:26:00 AM

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A(r) will always be known as the home of The Original Chicken Sandwich, but the recent launch of newly enhanced menu items has given the chain another entrée item to crow over. Based on initial, first-week response, the new Chick-fil-A(r) Chicken Salad Sandwich is the breakout star of the chain's lineup of new and enhanced menu items.

On May 19, Chick-fil-A introduced the most aggressive menu enhancement campaign in its history as a way to stay in step with its growing customer base's ever-changing appetites. Many of the chain's core menu items - including its Chick-fil-A(r) Chick-n-Strips, salads, Cool Wraps, and the Chick-fil-A(r) Chicken Salad Sandwich - received upgrades. While all of these products are proving successful with Chick-fil-A customers, the level of success enjoyed by the Chicken Salad Sandwich has surpassed the company's highest expectations.

"We have been thrilled with the customer response to the new Chick-fil-A Chicken Salad Sandwich. We've seen initial sales for this particular product jump 300 percent," said Vice President of Brand Development Woody Faulk, who has led the menu enhancement campaign for Chick-fil-A. "These results are proof positive that it is critical to respond to the needs and desires of your customers."

While the flavor profile of the Chick-fil-A Chicken Salad hasn't changed since chain founder Truett Cathy developed the recipe more than 60 years ago, the revised recipe is now served on a premium Wheatberry bread with Green Leaf Lettuce and packaged in a clear clamshell, resembling packaging more typical of a high-end deli. The sandwich is available individually at $3.65, or for the first time as a Chick-fil-A Meal for around $6.00.
