Domino's Delivers Fire Safety Message

Domino's teams up with multiple partners to deliver fire safety throughout the month of October.

-- Chain Leader, 11/4/2009 8:55:00 AM

PRESS RELEASE: ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- As people across the nation turned back their clocks for Daylight Savings Time on Nov. 1, Domino's Pizza delivered an important fire safety message to encourage consumers to change the batteries on their home smoke alarms. Hoping to make the 2009 fire safety program the biggest yet, Domino's partnered with the National Fire Protection Association, America's Dairy Producers and Fire Departments across the nation to do just that.

The program kicked-off in early October during Fire Prevention Week, as customers who ordered from participating Domino's Pizza stores may have been surprised when their delivery arrived along with a crew of firefighters aboard a fire engine. Upon arrival, the firefighters checked all of the smoke alarms in the home. If they were working, the pizza was free. If a smoke alarm was not working, the firefighters replaced the batteries and/or smoke alarm and left the home with a fully functioning fire safety device.

In addition to successful fire truck deliveries, Domino's continued their partnership with the NFPA and teamed up with America's Dairy Producers. In honor of college fire safety programs and mock dorm room drills, Domino's included dorm room fire safety tips with its pizza deliveries. Together with the NFPA, Center for Campus Fire Safety and America's Dairy Producers, Domino's delivered pizza to over 5,000 students on seven college campuses, including Arizona State University, Babson College, Georgia Tech, Northwestern University, Texas A & M, University of California Los Angeles and University of Southern California.

In addition, with the help of the NFPA and Dairy Management Inc., Domino's was able to team up with the New York City Fire Department to participate in Fire Safety Day on Oct. 8 and execute fire safety deliveries throughout the city.
