Emerging Chain Spoon Me Opens in Calgary

Popular frozen yogurt franchise Spoon Me has expanded into Canada with its first location in Calgary, Alberta.

PRESS RELEASE: SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Popular frozen yogurt franchise, Spoon Me (www.spoonme.com), has expanded into Canada with its first location at 1130 Kensington Rd NW in Calgary, Alberta. The new location opens the door for other potential franchisees to open their own Spoon Me stores in Canada. The Calgary Spoon Me pushes the total number of operating stores to 11 spanning Arizona, Utah, Idaho and now Alberta.

"I'm confident the people of Calgary will embrace Spoon Me for the high-energy, tongue-in-cheek, delicious frozen yogurt experience that it is," said Spoon Me's founder, Ryan Combe. "We're thrilled to bring it to a new group of people and add some flavor to their lives and community."

The Calgary location is now spooning and is open Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. - midnight. Spoon Me is planning to continue growth across Western Canada with several more stores on course to open in 2010.

"I was drawn to Spoon Me because of its fun atmosphere and excellent frozen yogurt but its mission is what inspired me to open a store," said Jeff Hansen, owner of the Calgary Spoon Me. "The idea of loving yourself, your community and your world is what makes this franchise unique and something I wanted to be a part of."

Spoon Me's three-fold mission to care for the body we live in, the people we live with and the earth we live on is accomplished through the following initiatives:

Spoon Me loves the environment. Spoon Me is a green company that works hand-in-hand with several companies to ensure it does its part to maintain the environment. Everything customers use in Spoon Me stores is biodegradable-including the spoons, which are made of cornstarch.

Spoon Me loves your body. Spoon Me frozen yogurt and smoothies are made from all natural ingredients making it healthy, light and delicious. At only 83 calories per serving, Spoon Me frozen yogurt is fat free and contains no table sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Spoon Me loves its community. Instead of accepting tips, Spoon Me stores accept donations to a new local charity each month with its Keep the Change Charity program.
