Limited-Time Offer: Grandy's Adds Spicy Popcorn Shrimp

Lenten Season limited-time offer represents first of several moves to re-invigorate and grow the home-style restaurant chain.

-- Chain Leader, 2/26/2009 8:58:00 AM

PRESS RELEASE: DALLAS, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Grandy's Restaurants, known for wholesome, home-style meals at a great value, heats up its menu by adding spicy popcorn shrimp - just in time for the Lenten season. Starting February 25th at participating stores, Grandy's is introducing a Spicy Popcorn Shrimp meal, complete with one-half pound of spicy popcorn shrimp, two sides and a roll for only $4.99 - for a limited time only, at participating Grandy's locations.

This is the first time in Grandy's 37 years that the chain, known for tasty, home-style meals on-the-go, has added a spicy seafood option to its classic southern-style menu. Value-driven customers who love the down home taste of "comfort food," but don't have enough time to cook themselves, can rely on these hearty, home-cooked meals with the convenience and price of fast food.

"Spicy popcorn shrimp will be a welcome addition for our customers and franchisees," said Tim Taft, president and chief executive officer. "The new management team at Grandy's is looking at everything to improve the brand, starting with menu innovation. We are also taking a hard look at improving a chain that in many ways had become stale in its approach to growing the business. We will do so by being true to our strategic pillars - starting with our home-style menu and exceptional value. Spicy popcorn shrimp is a great way to get things started."

Although the spiced-up menu is for a limited time, patrons will notice other more permanent changes throughout the Grandy's system. Restaurants are beginning to update through a series of initiatives including upgraded lighting packages, exterior remodels and interior reimaging.

Grandy's spicy popcorn shrimp is available in a snack size or in combination with Grandy's popular catfish platter. All combos are served with two fresh sides and a roll.
