IHOP Introduces New Menu Items (Press Release)
Freedom of choice dominates menu with 17 new items available for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

GLENDALE, CA--(Marketwire - October 8, 2008) - IHOP, one of America's favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, today announced the roll out of a new menu with dishes ranging from a new pancake flavor and tempting new crepes to a wide range of choices for lunch and dinner, including new salads and chicken dishes. The 17 new items are available in all IHOP locations across the country, and provide guests the freedom of choice with sweet and savory selections to meet their cravings no matter the time of day.
"IHOP has provided good, honest, simple food that has kept guests coming back for 50 years," said Carolyn O'Keefe, IHOP's senior vice president, marketing. "The latest evolution of our menu combines craveable IHOP favorites with new unique items that give guests the dining choices they want, when they want them."
The result of extensive consumer research, IHOP's new menu includes three additions to the IHOP For Me section, which gives guests the same great IHOP taste in dishes that are lower in fat, calories or carbohydrates, as well as healthier choices for kids, including fresh apple slices and caramel dip served as a side with lunch and dinner kids meals. The new menu items also include a taste of IHOP's roots in international-themed dishes, including Nutella(r) Crepes, Danish Fruit Crepes, a Tuscan Chicken Griller and Mediterranean Lemon Chicken.
All 17 new items are available any time of day and can be enjoyed in restaurant or through IHOP 'n Go, IHOP's takeout program. The new items include:
-- Butterscotch Rocks Pancakes: Four fluffy buttermilk pancakes filled with pecans, granola and butterscotch chips, then topped with whipped topping and drizzled with caramel sauce.
-- Bacon Temptation Omelette: Loaded with six strips of crispy bacon, a rich cheese sauce, Jack and Cheddar cheeses and diced tomatoes.
-- Hearty Ham & Cheese Omelette: Stuffed with diced ham, a rich cheese sauce and Jack and Cheddar cheeses.
-- Bone-In Ham Steak & Eggs: A giant 10-ounce, bone-in ham steak served with two eggs, hash browns and two fluffy buttermilk pancakes.
-- "Big" Country Fried Steak & Eggs: A giant 12-ounce fried beef steak smothered in gravy. Served with three eggs and three fluffy buttermilk pancakes.
-- Viva La French Toast Combo: Our popular favorite! Four fluffy French toast triangles with two eggs and a choice of two crispy bacon strips or two pork sausage links.
-- Nutella(r) Crepes: Three egg batter crepes filled with "the original creamy, chocolaty hazelnut spread"(tm) Nutella(r) and fresh banana, topped with cool strawberry topping and whipped topping.
-- Danish Fruit Crepes: Two delicious crepes filled with an authentic Danish combination of real fruit compote and rich sweet cream cheese. Chose from cool strawberry topping, warm blueberry or cinnamon apple compote.
-- Tuscan Chicken Griller: A juicy, grilled chicken breast with melted Provolone cheese, oven roasted tomatoes, romaine lettuce and sun-dried tomato pesto on a grilled Romano-Parmesan bun.
-- Monster Mozza Sticks: Five extra thick Mozzarella cheese sticks coated with Italian bread crumbs and fried crisp. Served with marinara sauce.
-- Crispy Chicken Salad: Garden greens topped with diced crispy-fried chicken, tomatoes, crispy bacon, Jack and Cheddar cheese and a hard boiled egg. Tossed with honey mustard dressing and served with garlic bread. Also available with grilled chicken.

-- Mediterranean Lemon Chicken: Rosemary, garlic and lemon marinated double breast of chicken seared to seal in the flavor. Served with seasoned red skin potatoes and steamed broccoli hollandaise.
-- "Big" Country Fried Steak: A giant 12-ounce fried beef steak smothered in gravy. Served with choice of soup or salad, garlic bread, daily vegetable and potato.
-- IHOP For Me - Harvest Grain 'N Nut(r) Healthy Combo: Two Harvest Grain 'N Nut(r) pancakes loaded with blueberries and topped with sliced bananas. Served with scrambled egg substitute.
-- IHOP For Me - Spinach, Mushroom & Tomato Omelette: Fresh spinach, mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese rolled in a fluffy egg substitute omelette made with a splash of buttermilk and wheat pancake batter for extra fluffiness. Topped with diced tomatoes and served with a side of fresh fruit.
-- IHOP For Me - Balsamic-Glazed Chicken: Grilled tender boneless chicken breast topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions, diced tomatoes and balsamic glaze. Served with a side of steamed broccoli and a fresh green salad with reduced calorie dressing.
