Glory Days Event Raises Funds for Local Charities

Annual Glory Days grill golf tournament raises $40,000 for local charities.

PRESS RELEASE: Fairfax, VA - Glory Days Grill, a local  Washington/Baltimore area restaurant chain, held its fourteenth annual golf tournament  on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Piedmont Club in Haymarket, Virginia. The tournament raised $40,000 which is an unprecedented achievement in the history of the Tournament. According to concept Co-Founder, Bob Garner, $33,000 will be given to the tournament's main beneficiary, The Sunshine Foundation. The Sunshine Foundation is the original wish granting organization founded in 1976 by former Philadelphia police officer, Bill Sample.  Monies raised from the Tournament will fulfill the dreams of seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children, ages 3-18, nationwide. Glory Days Grill will also make contributions totaling $7,000 to three local non-profit organizations: Jill's House, The Magic Foundation and Shaken Baby Prevention, Inc.

Said Glory Days Grill Co-Founder, Richard Danker, "My family started this tournament 21 years ago, and we are proud to continue our support of the Sunshine Foundation and the many children they serve. We are also very thankful for the support shown by our major sponsors, Sandy Spring Bank, US Foodservice, Anheiser Busch, Auto-Chlor, Gallo Wine, PalMar Construction, Sam Adams, Townsend Chicken and Keany Produce, who collectively donated more than $18,000.  Because of the generosity of our sponsors and participants, we can keep spreading the sunshine!"

Glory Days Grill has been recognized for a variety of charitable contributions and fundraising efforts and was a state winner and national finalist for the 2003, 2006 and 2007 Restaurant Neighbor Award sponsored by the National Restaurant Association and the winner of the prestigious McCormick Cornerstone Award for community outreach in 2007 and 2009. The restaurant company operates 20 company owned and 2 franchised locations in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
