PRESS RELEASE: GUADALUPE, Ariz., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hardee's(R) restaurants are cooking up a taste of the American summer spirit and serving it to residents and local charities in five Midwestern and Southern states in a multi-store tour. The Hardee's 'Making it Happen' Tour will be visiting 66 Hardee's restaurants in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee and donating money to hometown charity groups, organizations and individuals from August 10 through August 17.

The tour focuses on giving a total of $25,000 to individuals and small groups where it has the most direct impact on lives. Last year, tears were shed and thanks were given for the help received, including individuals like Kierston Horton, a twelve-year-old girl born without a left heart ventricle who needed many expensive surgeries. Some of this year's recipients include: the Thrive program in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a youth development program supporting family life; Sydney Williams, a 6-year-old from Chatham, Illinois, who needs hyperbaric treatment for mitochondrial disease to live a normal life; and the Marine Women's Association in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, for their care package program for active servicewomen.

"Our Midwest 'Making it Happen Tour' is back in town and is on an important mission to make these tough economic times a little easier for those in our communities who are in real need," said Margaret LeVecke, CMO of Hardee's franchise group MJKL Enterprises Midwest, LLC. "We are here to assist and to encourage others to support our returning veterans and their families, to aid ailing children and to help fund struggling charities. The need is great and the time is now. We are proud to be able to help the people who are 'making it happen' every day in their community."

Last summer, MJKL Enterprises recognized both local charities and outstanding individuals helping out their communities. This year they will continue to spread the goodwill alongside other Hardee's( )franchise groups, Sandy's Associates and Trico Development.

The tour begins August 10 in Louisville, KY, and concludes on August 17 in Effingham, IL. In celebration of the spirit of the tour, Hardee's guests at each stop will receive giveaways and free food samples. Along the way, the eye-catching, custom wrapped tour vehicle will be making donations to hometown charities in each location for a total of approximately $25,000. To find out when the Hardee's 'Making it Happen' Tour comes to your neighborhood, contact your local Hardee's( )restaurant.
