PRESS RELEASE: Hollywood, Calif., September 16, 2009 - Pizza Fusion (http://www.pizzafusion.com), pioneer of the environmental and organic restaurant movements, opened its sixth California location in Hollywood this week at 7950 W. Sunset Blvd., Suite 104, this month. The Orlando family, including Kay, her daughter Michele, and son Craig, are the eco-entrepreneurs behind Pizza Fusion's new Hollywood location.

"The response we received at our soft opening on Tuesday was wonderful", Michele states.  "Hollywood residents are really warming up to our organic and socially conscious approach to restaurant service.  It was a heartfelt, rewarding milestone to see our doors open to the public.  We're excited to enhance Hollywood's restaurant portfolio with a healthy take on America's favorite food - handcrafted pizza made with authentic ingredients without any artificial whatsoever."

Pizza Fusion is the first and only restaurant chain to mandate third-party organic restaurant certification at all its locations.  The chain, whose motto is 'Saving the Earth, One Pizza at a Time,' practices a socially conscious approach to its entire existence, including the restaurants' build-out, service and overall operations.  Through building all of its restaurants to LEED standards, delivering its food in company owned hybrid vehicles, and offsetting 100% of its power consumption at all of its restaurants, among many other green initiatives, Pizza Fusion is pioneering the sustainable restaurant movement.

Pizza Fusion's well rounded menu offers something for everyone, from traditional pizzas and sandwiches to its extensive offering of handcrafted, specialty pizzas, like Four Cheese & Sundried Tomato, Sausage & Tri-Colored Peppers or the popular Founder's Pie.  Pizza Fusion's award-winning, organic salads offer a tasty meal for a quick lunch or healthy dinner.  The chain also serves an extensive local, sustainable, and organic beer and wine list.  Beyond its organic offerings, Pizza Fusion also offers a number of options for selective diets, including vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, and gluten-free pizza and other menu items.

"We're thrilled to have a new home in Hollywood and look forward to earning the loyalty of L.A. residents through our delicious menu, environmental stewardship, and community oriented values", Vaughan Lazar, president and co-founder of Pizza Fusion, states.  "We're very proud to welcome the Orlandos into the Pizza Fusion family."

In the United States, restaurants are the top electricity consumer among retail businesses, accounting for 33% of the total consumption. Each restaurant produces an average of 50,000 pounds of waste per year. Pizza Fusion's restaurants reduce water waste by 40 percent and electricity consumption by 20 percent annually. The chain's LEED certified restaurants feature a number of unique, eco-efficient products, techniques and designs. Pizza Fusion restaurants' eco-elements include countertops made of re-used glass bottles from other Pizza Fusions and manufactured using a cradle-to-cradle approach, bamboo flooring, 30% recaptured industrial concrete, non-VOC paints, energy start certified appliances, insulation made from recycled blue jeans, ceiling baffles made from recycled composite board, low voltage, low heat lighting, furniture made from reclaimed wood, and much more - all the way down to the 100 percent post consumer toilet paper in their bathrooms.

Kay Orlando brings over 30 years of business expertise to Pizza Fusion Hollywood, including a successful run as a franchisee with Honda Kawasaki where she tripled the sales of her business in only three years.  Craig Orlando graduated from Sacramento University with an emphasis on Business and Communications, before specializing in sales, training, and customer service for the last 18 years.  Michele Orlando has 10 years of restaurant expertise under her belt with three years of marketing experience.  All three are personally committed to holistic lifestyles with concern for the environment in all they do, from organic eating to composting and recycling religiously.

Pizza Fusion is considering franchise candidates for 70 planned locations to open throughout California over the next five years.
