As first-time restaurant owners, the Lochtefelds are excited to open a family-friendly concept in the Portland area, where nothing like Buffalo Wings & Rings is available. The couple will run the franchise together, similar to the way the family farm is operated with the help of their sons, Richard, 30; Joshua, 19; and Jarod, 17.
"We're a family of farmers, so we all do a bit of everything," Vicky Lochtefeld said. "We multi-task and help each other, wherever something is needed. This is a new venture for us, so we are really looking forward to providing our customers with affordable, family-friendly dining and the excitement of Portland-area sports."
Last year, Buffalo Wings & Rings achieved the top spot on Restaurant Business magazine's annual "The Future 50" list, a ranking of the top 50 fastest-growing restaurant chains in the country. The chain also ranked in the top 500 franchises in the January 2009 issue of Entrepreneur.
The Buffalo Wings & Rings menu boasts a wide array of fare suited to both adults and children, including traditional and boneless Buffalo-style wings, and hand-breaded chicken tenders - all available in 10 sauces with five customizable levels of heat. Guests are encouraged to dunk their favorite wings in the Buffalo Wings & Rings homemade bleu cheese dressing. The menu also features massive burgers, crisp salads and authentic charbroiled gyros, plus a full range of appetizers, including nachos, chili-drenched sloppy fries, popcorn shrimp and mozzarella sticks.
Portland guests will enjoy their Buffalo Wings & Rings favorites alongside sporting events on 18 high-definition televisions, including a 7-foot tall projection screen that features full access to NFL Ticket and other sports action. Buffalo Wings & Rings Portland will offer seating for 191 diners inside and 48 on the patio. The restaurant also features arcade games geared toward children and adults, including Guitar Hero and a 17-foot-long Buffalo Wings & Rings Express Train on 60 feet of track. Children are able to start the train by pushing a button when they enter the restaurant, and each week the Lochtefelds will draw a participant's name to win a free Lil Buffalo Meal. Each winner will then be entered to win a grand prize at the end of the year.
The restaurant will feature Buffalo-To-Go takeout service for food and beer, including curbside pick-up, and a semi-private party room that accommodates up to 35 guests. Buffalo Wings & Rings is creating 25 jobs for the people of Portland.
Buffalo Wings & Rings is located at 1204 West Votaw Street, off Highway 67 in front of the Holiday Inn Express, where the restaurant will provide room service.
