The new Cold Deli Classics marry the great taste of fresh sliced cold deli meats, cheeses and veggies with Penn Station's signature bread, hot from the oven. "It just doesn't get any fresher than that!" said Alex Lukondi, Penn Station's Director of Marketing. The new line features a cold Italian, a cold Club and a "create your own" cold Dagwood. The Tuna Salad and Chicken Salad sandwich are now featured as part of the new cold line. "Our new Cold Deli Classics have all of the great taste and crave appeal of our grilled subs", Lukondi went on to say.
According to Craig Dunaway, President of Penn Station, Inc, early results from the Louisville test back up independent consumer research recently done by the chain. "Our research showed that over 80% of those surveyed had a positive interest in the new cold line", said Dunaway. "Several customers have told me that once they tried a cold Italian sub, they ordered it that way a second and third time. That tells me we're on to something special", he said.
Dunaway said the chain plans to promote the Cold Deli Classics as a special with either Fresh-Cut Fries or a Bag of Chips and a 21 ounce Soft Drink in both July and August. "A cold Italian or a cold Club with chips and a soft drink is the perfect take out lunch on a hot summer day. They are also a great addition to our Box Lunch and Catering Menu", he said.
