Quiznos Launches Ad Campaign, Online Sweepstakes

-- Chain Leader, 10/19/2009 8:41:00 AM

PRESS RELEASE: DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - October 19, 2009) - How closely do people pay attention to detail in commercials? Quiznos, pioneer of the toasted sandwich and one of the nation's premier restaurant chains for sandwiches, salads and soups, is rewarding consumers' keen eyes with the "Hot and Toasty 'Sweepsteaks,'" a visual scavenger hunt based on the new ad for the Double Cheese Cheesesteak sub. While viewers may have trouble tearing their eyes away from the sight of two hillbillies in a makeshift "hot tub" to observe other things happening in the commercial, those that do vie for the chance to win the grand prize of a real jetted hot tub.

"We develop our ads to be consistent with the Quiznos brand character -- edgy, provocative and humorous. We want people to be entertained by our brand but above all, we want them to try the Double Cheese Cheesesteak and share their delicious toasty experience with others," said Trey Hall, Chief Marketing Officer for Quiznos. "For this campaign, we're using social media channels to extend the reach of a traditional 30-second TV commercial and engage consumers with a challenge to hone in on the nuances of the ad."

For four weeks, Quiznos lovers can enter into the sweepstakes at www.QuiznosToaster.com by correctly answering questions about the commercial. One grand prize winner will receive a SpaBerry jetted hot tub, and ten second prize winners will receive $50 gift cards. For those who want to get a leg up on the competition, versions posted on YouTube and Facebook can be paused, rewound and replayed to search for answers. Entrants are encouraged to spread the "toasty word" and refer friends to enter the contest. Hint: DVR users should watch the spot in slow motion and pay attention to those animal sounds!

Piled high with hot and mouthwatering thick-cuts of USDA-approved prime rib steak and layered with double melted Swiss cheese, the hot and toasty Double Cheese Cheesesteak sub is toasted to perfection to bring out the robust flavors from the first to the last bite. Available for less than $5 at participating locations, the Double Cheese Cheesesteak satisfies a steak craving without a hefty price tag.
